Koko is a costume designer, cosplayer, and content creator based in San Diego, CA. She discovered the unique hobby of cosplay in 2010 at San Diego Comic Con and decided to join in on the fun, despite having no prior experience in sewing or crafting. Almost a decade later she has continued to enjoy the medium and has competed in several national cosplay competitions and masquerades throughout Southern California. As a plus sized cosplayer, she is an advocate for body positivity in the community. Her goal is to encourage others to cosplay regardless of gender, sexual orientation, skin color, body shape, size, or age – because cosplay is for everyone!
Being a rabid anime fan from an early age it was only a matter of time before SpacePizza got sucked into the world of cosplay. Attending her first Anime Convention in 2000, she left with cosplay plans for the next year! Since then cosplay has offered her many opportunities and she has gone on to become a multi-award winning, Internationally known Cosplayer. She has participated in and been on staff for masquerade competitions, judged several events, was a Crunchyroll Ambassador, and is known as Rooster Teeth’s Official Yang from RWBY (at SDCC). She is currently obsessed with corgis. SpacePizza Cosplay is excited to be returning to Anime Conji to share her passion for cosplay with you all!
My mom has a pic of me at around the age of 4 sitting at the sewing machine. All through high school, I sewed my own clothes. After high school, I did some costuming when I got into the SCA. I moved out here to California and the sewing dried up for a bit but I sewed my wedding dress and have been creating costumes and dresses ever since. But they were all from patterns. I have taken some courses from Mesa College to learn to do my own patterning and my goal this summer is to create several new outfits all from scratch. When Anime Conji started, I was the Masquerade Director for the first three years. I just finished chairing Costume-Con 36, Ports of Call over Mother’s Day weekend. I have so many costuming ideas in my head, and I’m excited to be a part of Anime Conji once again as a Masquerade Judge.
